WILD BOAR HUNTING

WILD BOAR OUTFITTER

Wild boar are not native to the North American continent but were brought there in the 1500’s. Wild boar are great swimmers and love water using it to cool off. Wild Boars typically weigh between 100-300 pounds and will be up to 3 feet tall. Their color varies in the blacks, reds, and browns. Boars (male) are solitary in nature except during the mating season. Sows (females) have 3-8 piglets and can give birth twice a year. Females stay with their young in family units. Many states have no regulation for hunting and encourage hunters to kill if boars are seen. They are considered an invasive specie and their population is unknown.

Wild boars will eat almost anything, from plants to eggs and small mammals. They are quite destructive causing soil erosion, rubbing bark off of trees, eating acorns, beechnuts, and other nuts so that few new trees will grow, and will damage crops. They also will damage fields by making holes in them that can upset farm machinery. They live almost anywhere and adapt quickly to new habitats.

Some of the best boar hunting states include Texas, Florida, and North Carolina. Browse our hunting outfitters to book your next hog hunt!
