MOOSE HUNTING

MOOSE OUTFITTER

Moose are the largest of the deer family and are solitary animals. They are seen across the northern United States, most of Canada and Alaska. Moose live in forested areas with lakes, ponds, and swamps.  They cannot sweat so they prefer the cooler climates and use the water to help with this and to help with bug control on their bodies. Moose are slow moving and sedentary but if startled or angered they can move quite fast, runing in excess of 30 mph and do a steady trot of 15 mph.

Moose stand four to six feet tall and typically weigh 600-1900 pounds. They have long faces and muzzles and large hooves that help them in snow, muddy, and marshy areas. Bull moose have huge palmate antlers that can grow 6 plus feet, from end to end. A moose's life span is 10-20 years. They are herbivores and consume 9,000  calories each day. They prefer to eat the taller grasses, shrubs, and tree leaves, due to their height. Moose are excellent swimmers and are capable of fleeing underwater.

Bull moose bellow loudly to attract their mate in September-October. Females usually give birth in the spring and their calf stay with their mother until her next calf is born. The population of moose in North America is between 750,000 and 1,000,000

Some of the best states to hunt moose include Alaska, Maine, and Montana. Browse our trophy moose outfitters to find your next hunt.
